Today I participated in my very first webinar (web-based seminar) and it seems I made a great choice for my first one! The webinar, hosted by Annemarie Cross and Work At Home Mums, was called ‘An Introduction to Social Media‘. It concentrated on using various methods of social media to promote your business but centred mainly on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
I’m very familiar with Facebook and Twitter but LinkedIn was new territory for me. Even though I’d registered an account months ago, I never really got around to using it and seeing what it was all about. After today’s webinar, I can see I’m going to be using it more often when it comes to getting the word out about Support a WAHP. I’ve already made around 10 new connections today! How’s that for networking?
If your business isn’t a part of any of these social networking avenues, it needs to be. Why? Because social networking works! The statistics from today’s webinar prove this. There are so many people using these networks, people that could potentially be your next customer or client but to reach these people and market your business to them, you need to be a part of these networks. Setting up a Facebook page or Twitter account is a relatively simple thing to do and will open your business up to a plethora of new people that you probably wouldn’t have reached through other advertising methods.
You can view the hour-long ‘Introduction to Social Media‘ webinar that I saw today online here and I guarantee you won’t regret it.
