Step 1 – Adding the Static FBML Application to your fan page
- To add the application to your page, you first need to visit the Facebook Static FBML Application Page
- Click on ‘Add to my Page’ at the top of the left sidebar (under the image)
- If you have more than one page, you will be asked to select the page you want to add the application to
- Once the Application has been added, you will be returned to the Application page (not your fan page)
Step 2 – Adding the FBML box to your fan page
- Open your fan page and under the image at the top left, click on ‘Edit Page’
- Scroll down the page until you find the ‘Static FBML’ option and click ‘Edit’ beneath it
- Enter the title you want to appear as the box heading (eg. Welcome, Contact, etc)
- Enter the HTML content in the ‘FBML’ field (if you’re unfamiliar with HTML, there are many tutorials available online)
- When you’re happy with the content, click ‘Save Changes’ to preview your new custom box (you will need to return to your fan page)
Step 3 – Placing your new FBML box in your Wall sidebar
- Open your fan page and click the + sign at the end of your tabs. Find the tab titled ‘Boxes’ and open it
- In the’ Boxes’ tab you should find your new FBML tab in there. Click the little pencil icon in the top right corner of the box and choose ‘Move to Wall tab’
- The FBML box will now appear in the left sidebar of your fan page (NOTE: This column is only 200px wide so any images you use must be this size or smaller)
Step 4 – Creating Additional FBML Boxes
- Open your fan page and under the image at the top left, click on ‘Edit Page’
- Scroll down the page until you find the ‘Static FBML’ option and click ‘Edit’ beneath it
- Below the fields for the box you just created you will find ‘Add another FBML box’
- Edit this new box in the same way you created the first (Refer to Step 2)
