Tell us a little about the person behind the business? Hi my name is Carmen and I am a stay at home mum of 2 boys with another bub due in September. Jack is nearly 4 and Noah is nearly 2. I have been a stay at home mum since Jack was born. Before that I worked for Big W for 23yrs. I have always had a passion for craft, and knitting and crochet. Sewing is a new passion that i am enjoying very much.
And now a little about the business itself? My business is all about making a quilt that can be treasured for many years.I love making them out of old clothes as this is a great way to keep those special clothes that we find hard to part with. It is also a fantastic idea for someone who has lost a loved one, we all know how hard it is to give things up that belonged to loved ones, this way you get an everlasting memory.They can also be made from new material if you want a special theme,eg Butterflies.
How did you come up with your business name? My favourite flower has always been the frangapanii and my surname is Franz so I combined them both.
What made you want to begin a WAH business and how did you get started? I deceided that it was about time I just DID IT and gave it a shot. I’m lucky in the way that I was a stay at home Mum anyway so really I’ve got nothing to loose and everything to gain.
What motivates you to keep your business going? My passion for seeing a quilt come together.
Do you have a current best-selling product or service? All of them!!
How do you advertise your business and which methods have proven more successful? At the moment I am just using that fantastic sites I have found through facebook, eg WAHP. Maybe down the track I will broaden my advertising.
How do you juggle your family and your WAH business? Any tips for other WAHP’s? I still try and stick to my everyday routine but instead of being stuck on the couch watching playscool I can be at my sewing table cutting/sewing but still wtaching playschool!!!
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start a WAH business? If it’s for your survival I would do alot of study before jumping in but if you are lucky and it’s a bit of a hobby just GO FOR IT!!! Make sure WAHP is the first facebook group you join!!!
