Tell us a little about the person behind the business? My Name is Alan, I have been in IT for more than 15 years. I am also a musician (drummer) and enjoy the freedom working from home gives me.
And now a little about the business itself? Computer Hardware / Software advice sales and service. We have a client base all over the world being able to work remotely if required.
How did you come up with your business name? Simply taken from my Surname.
What made you want to begin a WAH business and how did you get started? I Wanted the freedom to work around my kids and family commitments. Its been wonderful !!
What motivates you to keep your business going? We like to travel and so are constantly saving for the next adventure !!
Do you have a current best-selling product or service? Yes, My Reputation and Service. I try to give my clients more of the good old fashioned service that is lacking in many other businesses.
How do you advertise your business and which methods have proven more successful? Word of Mouth is the best advertising you can get. If people like you they will tell their friends about your service. Thats what I keep in mind.
How do you juggle your family and your WAH business? Any tips for other WAHP’s? Thats a tough one ! I schedule my time! If there is a family commitment it also goes in the diary, that way it is like an appointment, i just don’t send my family an invoice !!
And finally, what advice would you give to anyone wanting to start a WAH business? Make sure it will work with your family. Without the whole family supporting this venture, it is very difficult.
